the best we've ever had.
Stir together flour, nutmeg & salt; set aside.
Cream butter; gradually add sugar & cream until fluffy.
Beat in egg & vanilla. Stir in flour mix; combine well.
On lightly floured surface, shape with hands by rolling pieces of dough in long ropes 1/2 inch in diameter.
Cut ropes in 3 inch lengths.
Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake at 350 for 12 – 15 mins. Spread with frosting, mark with fork & sprinkle with nutmeg.
Frosting:
Cream 2 Tbs butter (softened). Beat in 1 1/4 cups icing sugar.
Note:
Can also add imitation rum extract diluted with a little water to icing.
