Apple Pie

the best we've ever had.

  • 5 Cups Thinly Sliced Apples
  • 3 Tbs Sugar
  • 3 Tbs Flour
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 2 Tbs Cubed Butter
  • 2 Pie Crusts
  • 1 Lightly Beaten Egg
  • Sugar

Add apples to medium bowl & sprinkle with sugar, flour, cinnamon & salt. Toss gently & combine well.

Place apple mix in uncooked pie shell. Dot with butter.

Top with 2nd pie crust & crimp edges. Cut slits in top.

Brush with egg wash & sprinkle with sugar.

Bake at 450 for the 1st 15 mins.

Reduce heat to 350 & cook an additional 30 – 40 mins, or until golden brown.

Let cool 10 mins.

 

Note: If edges of pie starts to brown more than centre, then carefully cover edge with foil for last 15 – 20 mins to prevent over-browning.

 

Note: 5 cups is approx 8 – 10 medium apples.
